SVMA Election and Annual Meeting Notice
Solitude Village Master Association
12000 Big Cottonwood Canyon
Solitude, Utah, 84121
June 28, 2023
Dear Valued Homeowner,
This letter is to notify all Village homeowners that the SVMA (Solitude Village Master Association) will hold the annual meeting on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 3:30 pm Mountain Time. This meeting will be conducted in person at Last Chance Lodge and virtually via ZOOM.
The Solitude Village Master Association Board of Directors consists of 5 Resort Directors appointed by the president of the resort, 1 Director representing Lodging (i.e., The Inn), 1 Director representing Commercial and 2 Residential Site Directors elected by the members of the Village Homeowners Association.
Current SVMA Board:
Amber Broadaway – President of the Board - Resort Director
Steve Holtey – Resort Vice President
Marlen Stewart – Resort Vice President
Nate Lee – Resort Vice President
Nick Sieckowski – Resort Village Operations Manager
Gaylis Linville – Lodges Director (appointed)
Adam Peters – Commercial Director (appointed)
Susan Edwards – Residential Site Director (elected)
John Risner – Residential Site Director (elected)
You are also receiving this letter as notification of the upcoming election for the 2 elected Residential Site seats on the SVMA board which will be held during the Annual Meeting in August. Nominations for these 2 seats from The Village homeowners are now open.
The Residential Site representation is by election during odd numbered years. This election is held at our annual meeting and each seat is occupied for a two-year term. These board members may be reelected. (Please note that these 2 board members represent all homeowners in the Village. There is not a seat for each property/HOA within the Village.)
All candidates nominated for election (yes, you can nominate yourself!) must submit a short bio statement indicating qualifications and intent (you may also include a photo). This bio must be submitted to Nick Sieckowski, SVMA Secretary (n.sieckowski@solitudemountain.com or Nick Sieckowski, 12000 Big Cottonwood Canyon, Solitude, UT, 84121). These nominations will be accepted through closing of the business day on July 21, 2023. Incumbents need to indicate their intent to run for reelection by contacting Nick Sieckowski and submitting a statement indicating their intent to seek reelection.
Biography statements for all nominated individuals will then be sent via email and posted on the SVMA website (www.solitudevillagemaster.com) on or before July 24, 2023, along with an approved budget for the new fiscal year, and an agenda and instructions for the online election at the meeting. If you have any questions, please call Nick Sieckowski at 801-536-5722.
PLEASE NOTE:
We will be voting electronically during the meeting (reminder: nominations may be accepted from the floor during the meeting).
Your property/unit has one vote regardless of the number of partners/people in the ownership of the property. This applies to husband-and-wife teams as well, only one vote between them for a unit. We will need ONE active email address for each unit in order to have only one vote per unit. Please provide Nick (at the email or phone number above) the NAME of the voting individual representing your unit, the property name, unit number, and the one email address for that individual to receive an electronic ballot by July 21, 2023.
You will be sent the link to the Zoom meeting via email so please be sure your email address is up to date. You may email Nick with any changes. Thank you for your participation in this very important election and we look forward to seeing you in August.
Sincerely,
Amber Broadaway
SVMA President
Summer Update
Last weekend we opened up for Summer operations. The snow patches didn't just remind us of our record winter season - but delayed opening of our Sunrise lift and most of our mountain trails. That said, the restaurants, retail outlets, rental shop, ticket office, and our newly upgraded Adventure Park are now open, and the rest of the mountain is not far behind. For up-to-date operational hours and mountain conditions, download the Solitude App or visit our website linked below:
https://www.solitudemountain.com/
New for this year are Summer Camps, sold on a weekly basis for children ages 5 to 12. All Solitude Village Homeowners receive a 10% discount! For availability visit the link below:
https://www.solitudemountain.com/things-to-do/solitude-summer-camps
Tomorrow, Thursday, June 22 at 6 p.m. M.T., Amber Broadaway will be hosting our second annual Solitude Town Hall. If you are nearby you can stop by Moonbeam to join in person - otherwise, you may join us on Zoom. Follow the link below for specific time and information:
https://www.solitudemountain.com/things-to-do/events-and-activities/solitude-town-hall
We look forward to seeing you this summer! Our Homeowners Weekend is August 3-7 with the SVMA Annual Meeting taking place on August 4. This will be a fun-filled weekend - so we hope you can join. Stay tuned for further details.
Twin Lakes Dam
The water level at Twin Lakes Reservoir has reached the height of the spillways at Twin Lakes Dam. Big Cottonwood Creek water levels are higher than normal and are no longer controlled by the dam.
At this time, we are not concerned about flooding in any of our buildings but will be monitoring water levels closely. Updates will be sent if anything changes.
Twin Lakes Reservoir is located on the southeast side of our resort boundary and drains into Big Cottonwood Creek (linked below):
Lift Hours/ BCC Road Closure 5/13
Solitude Owners,
As a result of Saturday’s road race in the canyon, UPD has now decided to close the canyon this Sat, May 13th from 6 AM – 9 AM. As a result, we feel for the best access for both our staff and guests that we need to move our lift hours from 9 AM – 3 PM to 11 AM – 4 PM (which we know is an hour less than planned). We apologize for any inconvenience (UPD provided conflicting info. these last few days), if this presents a problem – please work with your Manager.
Thanks,
a.

Seasonal Activities and Events
Summer events have something for everyone – from live music in the Village Green to nature walks and star gazing, the Village at Solitude has it going on.
Is winter more your style? Whether it is a snowman building contest, storytelling, or smores on the camp fire, the Village provides a relaxed inviting après atmosphere.
The Village Green (summer)
Located at the heart of the Solitude Village, this area includes picnic spaces, BBQ grills, walking paths, and a gazebo with an open air fire pit.
Snow Removal, Landscaping, and Refuse Removal
With 500 inches of annual snowfall, keeping the Village roads and pathways clear is a continual effort.
Landscaping throughout the Village is cared for with an emphasis on local flora and fauna.
Trash and recycling receptacles located throughout the village require constant attention to ensure we can all enjoy the natural beauty of Solitude.

Thank you to all who came to the Owners Event on 2/25. What a GREAT turnout!
For those who weren’t able to make it. Here is a summary of our day:
We had a surprise visit from a Magical Unicorn (Ambers 5 year old daughter/ shredder) who was able to keep up with all the owners as we skied, Apex & Powderhorn lifts! We finished off the day with drinks, chili, pretzels, and bingo at the Roundhouse. Lots of laughs were shared, and prizes were won!

Loss of phone service
We wanted to make everyone aware that last night (2/15/23) around 11:30pm until 6:30am this morning (2/16/23) the canyon had experienced a phone outage. Our Resort representative were on the phone working with the providers on finding the issue. This was due to faulty equipment on the providers end of things. We are currently up and running with no issues.

Yurt Open for Lunch
Dear Owners,
We are thrilled to share with you that we now have our Yurt open for Lunch on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. You can access the Yurt on hill from Sunrise Lift or via Lower Northstar Trail coming down from Apex and/or Summit Lifts. Or you can also make a very short snowshoe and/or Nordic ski up from the Village, which I just did today, and it was glorious. We are serving a variety of hearty dishes, specialty cocktails, beer, and more. We are working on getting an outdoor firepit and chairs to make it an even more inviting way to spend an afternoon. Enjoy!
Cheers,
Amber
